It’s a rare gift when we are given a completely blank canvas on which to dream up a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But SUNY Purchase’s Black Box Theater, provided exactly that for Remi’s bat mitzvah celebration.
Musing on themes of love, kisses, and the warm glow she would be surrounded by that night, we painted the black box gold for Remi. Technically, we painted it gold with seven football field lengths of gold mylar rain curtain that completely enveloped the guests in magical twinkle. Top it off with centerpieces that were suspended above the tables; a 14’ diameter custom Sputnik chandelier; a sunken lounge for Remi and her friends; and desserts that dropped from the ceiling during the dance party? Now, that’s how we say Mazel Tov!
